Independent Podcast Awards
Enter the Awards & Let Your Voice Be Heard!
By GCBR and The Claudes SEN Law Campaign (TCSL)
We believe in the power of independent voices—raw, real, and unfiltered. That’s why we’re proud to support and encourage podcast creators who are challenging narratives, elevating overlooked stories, and building community from the ground up.
If you’re an independent podcaster in the UK or Ireland, now’s your chance to be recognised.

What Makes a Podcast Independent?
For these awards, independence means your podcast is self-funded or produced without backing from a major brand or publisher. You might not be a celebrity, but your voice matters. Whether you’re recording from your bedroom, your car, or a local library—you’re making powerful content on your own terms.
Podcasts with high-profile guests do qualify, as long as the production itself remains independently driven.
Who Can Enter?
To enter, you must:
Be UK- or Ireland-based.
Have released at least 10 episodes in the last year (1 June 2024 – 31 May 2025), OR have a strong back catalogue if you’ve been less active recently.
Host your podcast on an accessible platform (not just private or subscriber-only feeds).
Whether you host a mini-series, a community podcast, or an activist platform—your voice deserves to be heard.

Inclusivity at the Core
We strongly encourage entries from:
Creators of colour
LGBTQIA+ podcasters
Disabled podcasters
Gender-diverse hosts
Marginalised voices and shows aimed at underrepresented communities
Can’t afford the entry fee? The Podcasting, Seriously Fund offers bursaries for eligible entrants—no one should be left behind because of finances.
Categories, Clips & Criteria
Your first entry costs £35 (includes feedback!), with each additional entry just £5. After one paid entry, you’ll also be eligible to enter these categories for free:
Best Podcast Jingle
Best Podcast Artwork
Best Use of Video
The Independent Podcast of the Year will be selected by the judges from all category winners—no separate entry needed.
What Judges Want to Know:
When entering, you’ll be asked about:
Why you started your podcast
What makes it independently spirited
How you serve your community
What makes your show different
Your average listener stats (don’t worry—we’re not here to judge size!)

Clip Selection:
You’ll need to upload three 15-minute clips from episodes aired in the last 12 months. If clips aren’t possible, you can provide links + timestamps.

Why This Matters
As advocates for justice, inclusion, and accessible storytelling, GCBR and TCSL believe podcasting is one of the most powerful tools for social change. Whether you’re spotlighting disability rights, climate activism, mental health, or personal journeys—your voice has impact. Patreon Exclusive Blog
