The 2025 G7 Summit: A Defining Moment for Inclusive Global Leadership
As an advocate and regional representative for persons with disabilities, as well as a campaigner and public speaker on issues spanning human rights, social justice, and economic empowerment, I see the upcoming 2025 G7 Summit as a critical junction in global affairs. It offers an unprecedented opportunity to redefine international cooperation, embedding inclusion, equity, and justice at the core of policy-making.

What to Expect from the 2025 G7 Summit
The G7 gathering in Canada will convene amidst complex global challenges: geopolitical tensions, climate crises, rising inequality, and the ongoing fight for human rights. This summit will shape responses to:

Designing economies that protect workers’ rights and promote fair opportunities.

LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and Disability Rights: Advancing policies that guarantee dignity, accessibility, and protection for marginalized communities.

Key Points of Input and What Must Be Discussed
Disability Inclusion as a Non-Negotiable Priority
Disabled persons face systemic barriers globally. From education and employment to healthcare access and political representation. The G7 must commit to enforceable disability-inclusive development goals aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). This includes dedicated funding and monitoring.

LGBTQIA+ Rights and Protections
Global peace is incomplete without the safety and recognition of LGBTQIA+ individuals. G7 leaders must pledge to combat discrimination, support asylum seekers fleeing persecution, and fund inclusive health and education programs.

International Aid Reform
Aid must be rooted in partnership and justice, not paternalism. This means ensuring that recipients in Global South countries and Commonwealth members have agency and voice in how aid is structured and deployed.

Our Call to Action
The G7 must rise beyond traditional diplomacy to embrace the voices historically excluded—youth, neurodiverse communities, the Global South, and disability rights advocates.

The summit must:

Commit to co-created policies with civil society, particularly the Commonwealth nations and frontline climate communities.

Deliver on binding climate finance agreements that reflect justice and reparations.

Launch frameworks ensuring ethical AI and digital governance inclusive of diverse expertise with beneficial safeguards.

Promote economic justice by supporting equitable trade, debt relief, and education access for vulnerable populations.

Economic Security for All
Economic growth must translate into real improvements in quality of life. That requires addressing wage gaps, supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs from marginalized groups, and safeguarding social protection systems against austerity measures.

Call to Action: Engage, Advocate, Amplify
The 2025 G7 is not just a summit for world leaders. It’s a call for global citizens, advocates, and young leaders to raise their voices and demand accountability.

Engage: Stay informed and participate in public consultations or side events related to the G7 agenda.

Public Statement
“The G7 Summit must be a catalyst for bold, intersectional action. Where inclusion is more than rhetoric but the foundation of global cooperation. As we face unprecedented challenges, it is imperative that the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and all marginalized groups are prioritized equally with economic and environmental goals. True progress depends on justice for all.”

Final Thoughts
This summit is a moment for transformational change. It is a chance to shift from siloed diplomacy to holistic, justice-driven governance that honors diversity and promotes lasting peace.

As a young leader deeply committed to social justice, I urge all stakeholders. Governments, civil society, and citizens.  To embrace this vision. Together, we can build a future that leaves no one behind.
