“This is not humanitarian neglect. This is the weaponization of aid.”
Aquayemi-Claude Garnett Akinsanya on LBC Radio with Ben Kentish

On 15th May 2025, our campaign founder and international human rights advocate, Aquayemi-Claude Garnett Akinsanya, joined LBC Radio’s Ben Kentish for a critical interview on the Gaza humanitarian crisis. The discussion was a clarion call to the UK public and the global community: stop turning your backs on Gaza.

What’s Happening in Gaza?

As the death toll climbs and the infrastructure collapses, Gaza is now home to one of the most acute humanitarian catastrophes in modern history:

  • Over 35,000 Palestinians killed, including more than 14,000 children
  • Famine conditions now affect over half a million people (IPC Phase 5: Catastrophe)
  • Medical infrastructure is non-operational in over 70% of the Strip
  • UNRWA, Gaza’s primary relief agency, is being obstructed from delivering aid
LBC Radio Interview

UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini told the BBC:

“Starvation is being used as a weapon of war in Gaza.”

The Legal and Moral Failure

Under international law—specifically Article 14 of Additional Protocol II and Article 54 of Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions—deliberate starvation of civilians is a war crime.

Yet, despite overwhelming evidence, governments like the UK’s have failed to demand accountability, enforce ceasefires, or even restore full humanitarian access.

Our Campaign Demands

GCBR and TCSL are demanding immediate and measurable actions:

  1. An Immediate, Unconditional Ceasefire in Gaza and Southern Israel
  2. Humanitarian Air and Land Corridors protected by UN peacekeeping forces
  3. Investigation of War Crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC)
  4. Restoration of Full UNRWA Operations and Funding
  5. UK Government Action—including sanctions against violations of international law

Conclusion: History Will Judge Us

Aquayemi-Claude closed the LBC segment with these words:

“This is a human rights emergency, not a political dispute. If the UK fails to act now, we betray every principle of our democracy and our humanity.”

Let us not look back in shame. Let us act—now.
