Radio Airwaves Welcomed Us – But Policy Rooms Closed Their Doors

This week, our founder — a leading voice in global advocacy for inclusion, social justice, and human rights — was invited to speak with Ben Kentish on LBC Radio.

The conversation focused on a historic turning point:
The First 100 Days of Donald Trump’s Presidency in the United States.

With clarity and urgency, our founder unpacked:

  • The devastating global ripple effects of Trump’s executive orders.
  • The sharp escalation of immigration raids, travel bans, and racial profiling.
  • The rollback of climate commitments and disability protections.
  • And the danger of normalized authoritarian rhetoric, undermining democracy worldwide.

This was not merely a retrospective — it was a call to action.
A reminder that leadership must be people-first and accountability-bound from Day One.

Exclusion by Design?

Yet, while this powerful conversation aired across national platforms, we ask:

Where was our official invitation to the Mayor of London’s latest event on inclusion and justice?

Despite our proven leadership in the field — with over 7 years of national and international campaigns for:

  • Disability rights
  • Racial equity
  • Parental justice
  • And the ongoing advocacy behind The Richmond Girls case

…no invitation was issued.

No seat at the table. No recognition. No platform.

This silence speaks volumes.

CASE STUDY: The Richmond Girls – A Systemic Failure

Let us be clear about what this exclusion really costs.

The Richmond Girls, two Black sisters with complex special educational needs and disabilities, were:

  • Unlawfully removed from their mother’s care in March 2023 under an 18-week care order that has now illegally extended over a year.
  • Denied their right to education and left out of placement since September 2023.
  • Subject to disability discrimination, racial bias, and council mismanagement.

Authorities Involved:

  • Achieving for Children (AfC)
  • Richmond and Wandsworth Children’s Services
  • HMCTS
  • Local MP offices
  • Ofsted, IOPC, and Social Work England

All notified. None accountable.

FACTS & DATA: The Broader Picture

This is not just about one case. The data is clear:

  • 1.7 million+ children in England are identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Black children are 4.5 times more likely to be taken into care than white peers.
  • Families from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds face a disproportionate rate of wrongful child protection interventions, often due to systemic racism.
  • A 2024 report from the Nuffield Family Justice Observatory confirmed racial disparities in care proceedings remain unresolved and under-addressed.

Yet today’s event, marketed as an “inclusion and lived experience” gathering, did not reflect this lived reality.

Our Work is Ongoing — With or Without the Invitation

Whether we are welcomed into rooms of influence or not, GCBR and The Claudes SEN Law Campaign (TCSL) will continue:

  • Pressing for independent investigations.
  • Holding councils and MPs to account.
  • Creating media, film, and legal campaigns to bring light to the shadows.
  • Speaking truth on platforms that can’t be muted — including radio, podcasts, press, and street-level activism.

We thank LBC Radio and Ben Kentish for recognizing the importance of these issues and amplifying voices too often ignored.

Final Words: To the Mayor of London

“Inclusion cannot be performative.
It cannot be selective.
And it cannot be political convenience.
If the goal is true justice — then let the real voices speak.”
