Today, we witnessed yet another painful example of systemic exclusion.

Despite years of advocacy for social justice, inclusion, and victims’ rights, key voices were not invited to participate in today’s major conference — including our founder, a leading advocate for change.
The event, which claimed to centre on “diverse voices” and “lived experience,” ultimately sidelined the very communities most impacted by injustice.

Who was left behind?
Millions of victims, survivors, and families — silenced once again.

Case Study: The Richmond Girls

An urgent and ongoing example of injustice is the case of The Richmond Girls:

  • Unlawful removal from their mother’s care in March 2023.
  • Over 12 months denied education despite their complex needs and legal entitlements.
  • Failure by Achieving for Children (AfC), Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, and other authorities to uphold basic rights.
  • Ignored complaints to Ofsted, HMCTS, and the IOPC.

This family’s ongoing struggle is not an isolated case — it represents thousands of others facing racial injustice, disability discrimination, and the systematic erasure of parental rights.

Data and Facts:

  • 1.7 million+ children in England have Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Black families are over 50% more likely to be involved in child welfare proceedings.
  • Disproportionate care orders and education exclusions disproportionately affect children from marginalized communities.

Yet today, once again, the conference panels, keynote speeches, and media attention failed to include these realities.

A Public Call to Action:

Mayor of London — where was our invitation?
Where was the platform for those fighting real battles on the frontlines of social injustice?
Where was the inclusion for The Richmond Girls — for families unlawfully evicted, for children denied their basic human rights?

Inclusion can not be a slogan.
It must be practice, action, and representation.
