▪︎ What is The Hague known for? The Hague is the seat of government of the Netherlands. It is famous for being the permanent home of the United Nations’ International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. It is also a leading center for international conferences.

▪︎ Etymology. The Hague was first mentioned as Die Haghe in 1242. In the 15th century, the name des Graven hage came into use, literally “The Count’s Wood”, with connotations such as “The Count’s Hedge, Private Enclosure or Hunting Grounds”.

▪︎ The Hague has a great buzz thanks to its many high-quality restaurants, cafés and clubs, starting with a drink at the centrally located main square, ‘t Plein. The city is also packed with cultural attractions.
