New penalties for homeless people at a time of rising destitution would be the ugliest politics. The repealers must prevail #TheGuardian

My name is Aquayemi-Claude Akinsanya, and I am writing to you regarding a pressing issue highlighted in a recent opinion piece published by The Guardian.
The piece shed light on the unfortunate reality that the government and housing ombudsmans are falling short in their duty to protect British citizens from the alarming trend of landlord abuse. It is deeply concerning to note that many individuals across Britain are facing blackmail and threats from their landlords, with little to no recourse for justice or protection.

This issue is particularly alarming in light of The Guardian’s stance on the Tories @conservatives and rough sleepers, advocating for the repeal of the archaic Vagrancy Act to address homelessness and rough sleeping in the country. However, it is evident that addressing the root cause of homelessness must also include robust protections for tenants facing exploitation and abuse from landlords.
