Today, we bring attention to the pressing need for a comprehensive understanding of hidden disabilities and the imperative for their inclusion in public discourse and policy-making.

🔹️The Unseen Struggle

Hidden disabilities, encompassing conditions such as autism, chronic pain, mental health disorders, and other non-visible impairments, affect a considerable portion of the population. Yet, these challenges are frequently overlooked in political agendas, resulting in an exclusionary narrative that fails to address the diverse needs of individuals living with these conditions.

Recent research indicates that a staggering 20% of the population in Britain grapples with hidden disabilities. Despite their prevalence, the lack of awareness and understanding perpetuates discrimination in various spheres, including employment, education, and public spaces.

🔹️Commodity Politics vs. Human Rights

Commodity politics, with its focus on popular and easily marketable issues, tends to sideline matters that are less visible but equally significant. The unfortunate consequence is the marginalization of those with hidden disabilities, leaving them without the necessary support and recognition.

This press release calls for a shift in the political narrative, urging leaders and policymakers to acknowledge the importance of inclusivity beyond the visible spectrum. It is essential to recognize that the true measure of a society’s progress lies in its commitment to leaving no one behind, irrespective of the visibility of their challenges.

🔹️Facts and Figures: Illuminating the Reality

To underscore the urgency of this issue, recent data research has uncovered alarming statistics:

– 80% of individuals with hidden disabilities report experiencing discrimination in Education, Society and the workplace.

– 70 to 80% of hidden disabilities are not disclosed due to fear of stigma and discrimination.

– 80% of public spaces in Britain lack adequate accommodations for individuals with hidden disabilities.

These figures underscore the pervasive nature of the problem and emphasize the immediate need for change.

Call to Action

This press release serves as a call to action for journalists and media professionals to shed light on the often-neglected issue of hidden disabilities in Britain. By bringing attention to these challenges, we aim to foster a national dialogue that prioritizes inclusivity and highlights the need for policies that address the unique requirements of individuals with hidden disabilities. #SocialInjustice #RacialInjustice #CriminalMatter #SocialJustice #HumanRights
