Dear adolescent and youth advocates,

Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).

The #ICPD, held in Cairo in 1994, set a bold new vision of the relationships between population, development, and individual rights and well-being.

It recognized that population was not about numbers, but about people, and that individual dignity and human rights, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, are the basis for individual well-being and sustainable development.

As we approach ICPD+30 next year, we invite young people like you to come together and share your urgent and emerging priorities, reflections, and calls to action for ICPD.

Over the coming weeks MGCY and the ICPD Youth Platform, in partnership and financial support from UNFPA, will be hosting a series of youth dialogues during August 2023 to will discuss the progress that has been made and how it’s impacting communities on the ground and explore the challenges we face in the fight for sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice.

Led by young people and anchored in our real-life experiences and aspirations for a better future, these spaces are intended to facilitate collective learning, foster accountability, and build a strong movement, towards our aim of articulating and amplifying our demands and call to action for ICPD+30, the UN Summit of the Future, and beyond.
