Monday Motivation Word: Earth

#mondaymotivation

Is the third planet from the Sun and the largest of the terrestrial planets. It is the only planet known to have life and water on its surface. With a diameter of 12,742 kilometers, Earth is also the fifth largest planet in the solar system. It has a year of 365.25 days and rotates on its axis every 24 hours, resulting in day and night cycles. Earth’s atmosphere is composed mostly of nitrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%) and protects the planet from harmful radiation and incoming meteoroids. The planet’s magnetic field also helps to deflect solar wind, a stream of charged particles, from entering the atmosphere and causing damage. Earth’s natural satellites are the Moon, which is the fifth largest in the solar system, and thousands of asteroids and comets that orbit the planet. Here are some additional facts and statistics about Earth:  – Earth’s average distance from the Sun is about 149.6 million kilometers (93 million miles). This distance is known as one astronomical unit (AU) and is used as a standard for measuring distances in the solar system.  – Earth’s mass is about 5.97 x 10^24 kilograms (or 5.97 sextillion metric tons). This makes it the most massive planet in the inner solar system.  – The highest point on Earth’s surface is Mount Everest, which is 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) tall. The lowest point is the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, which is about 10,920 meters (35,827 feet) deep.  – About 71% of Earth’s surface is covered by water, and the remaining 29% is land. The largest ocean is the Pacific Ocean, which covers about 30% of the planet’s surface.  – Earth’s atmosphere is divided into five layers: the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere. The troposphere is closest to the surface and contains most of Earth’s weather.  – The Earth’s rotation is slowing down very slightly over time. This is due to the Moon’s gravitational influence and other factors, such as the movement of the Earth’s molten core.  – Scientists estimate that there are more than 8.7 million species of plants and animals on Earth. However, many species have yet to be discovered and classified. 👇🏾
