The UK is considering approval of @equinor’s new Rosebank oil field

Rosebank is the biggest undeveloped field in the UK. It’s a catastrophe for the climate, a money grabbing mega project for the oil companies backing it.

Rosebank won’t lower bills or make our energy more secure. But it will produce more emissions than the world’s 28 lowest income countries combined! This one field will produce as much pollution as 700 million people in the Global South do in a year.

@equinor made more than £50 billion in profit last year. Now @equinor wants to open up a new oil field to make even more money. If Rosebank goes ahead, they’ll get a half billion pounds subsidy from the UK government, paid for by the taxpayer.

We need real solutions to the energy & climate crisis, not more oil fields. With the right policy support, the UK could create 3 jobs in clean energy for every oil & gas job at risk.

We need a #JustTransition, not investments in new oil & gas projects. Each new field, each new Rosebank delays a transition to a better, fairer energy system.
@equinor, and companies like it, are standing in the way of lowering bills and protecting the climate. The UK government is letting them.
