After two weeks of extensive negotiations, COP27 has concluded with a hallmark implementation plan #SHIP, and a historic deal for agenda item and outcome on #LossAndDamage funding.
#COP27 reached a breakthrough agreement on a new “Loss and Damage” fund for vulnerable countries.
It also resulted in countries delivering a package of decisions that reaffirmed their commitment to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C.

When we now give a massive thank you to Egypt for hosting a beneficial COP27. It’s now officially time for delivery from UK, USA, EU, and Switzerland as I and my fellow Global North and the Youth Movement of Fellow Delegates, Activist & Young Leaders will be watching closely… That these agreements are not backslided. Into out of the blue u-turns.
We now require for the agreements of COP27 to be delivered and put into implementation by name of Egyptian #TogetherForImplementation
In time for Road to COP28 that other elements of Climate Change can be taken in mind for Climate Justice..

▪︎ Fossil Fuels
▪︎ Climate Migration
▪︎ Inclusion & Equity
▪︎ Any additional which maybe required to be discussed and addressed.

Our #WorldLeaders and #Citizens are required to acknowledge the following:
1/ ▪︎ a wide set of #COP27 decisions is now distributed and once again the #ParisAgreement is used to advance false solutions promoting the status quo rather than accelerating radically the race to phase out fossil fuels… A overview of some key problematic decisions…
2/ ▪︎ cover decisions: despite some good language on #Renewables, the #COP27 political outcome makes no progress on recognition of need to phase out ALL fossil fuels & only replicate Glasgow language without any recognition of ongoing #FossilFuels crisis.

3/ ▪︎ cover decision also reuses language suggesting that coal emissions might be “abated” through future technologies – this language diverts away from unequivocal demand for an effective phasing out of all fossil fuels in line with science.
4/ ▪︎ worse: language referring to “clean power” and to the “diversifying energy sources” – these are code words for the further promotion of #FossilFuels portrayed by the industry as “cleaner”. The COP bought in their greenwashing attempts.
5/ ▪︎ language in carbon trading decision does call for review of very dangerous decision on “removals” but fails to provide clear mandate that would contain risks that next iteration of recommendation promotes #geoengineering & harms #HumanRights

6/ ▪︎ mitigation work programme embraces need for science-based action yet fails to recognise need for sectoral approaches that would allow to review & take action esp. in energy sector. No ref. to FF. Without it, little chance to meet #ParisAgreement goal.

7/ ▪︎ 2nd Periodic Review of temperature goals, a process supposed to take stock of progress towards #1o5c embraces 10 key take-aways from structured dialogue = no reference to #FossilFuels & strong message promoting #CarbonMarkets
