The samosa has a Central Asian origin. The earliest mention of the samosa was by Abbasid-era poet Ishaq al-Mawsili, praising the sanbusaj. Recipes are found in 10th–13th-century Arab cookery books, under the names sanbusak, sanbusaq, and sanbusaj, all deriving from the Persian word sanbosag.

In Gujarat, the patti samosa is quite popular. And this one is stuffed with finely chopped potatoes that are allowed to cook in the oil as the samosa is fried.

World Samosa Day is celebrated on September 5 every year, and we are excited to celebrate this day by eating the delicious snack. Samosas are a fried pyramid-shaped dish filled with onions, potatoes, cheese, peas, and several other filling options.
