AlphaBiomics are developing an exciting test that may help to predict which biologic medicines are most likely to work for an individual. They recently ran a UK-wide online survey to ask people with Crohn’s and Colitis whether the test results would influence their decision to try a biologic.

  The survey was completed by over 200 people and about 85% of respondents felt positively about the predictive test and thought it could be a valuable tool. Almost 80% of respondents reported having experienced “trial-and-error” in their IBD care, and many of them took the time to answer an additional question describing in their own words how this affected them and their families. AlphaBiomics are grateful for everyone’s participation and will use the feedback to guide the development of the test.

Researchers from Huddersfield University have published the findings of a study on the relationship between illness identity and self-management of Crohn’s and Colitis. We helped recruit more than 30 of the people who took part, so a huge thank you to everyone who got involved! They found that the more a person sees their IBD as part of their identity, the more likely it is that their condition is well managed.
