Clever marketing of protein-packed products has duped lots of us into believing that a high-protein diet is the healthiest way to eat.

Protein is hugely important for the healthy functioning of the human body, but did you know that most people consume more than they need? In the UK adults are advised to eat 0.75g of protein each day for each kilogram they weigh. So the average man should eat 55g, and the average woman 45g.

Despite this, the average European consumes a whopping 85g a day.
